Attention to Detail: Priming Before Installation

During the removal of your damaged glass, bare metal can be exposed in the pinchweld (the area where the windshield or back glass sit). These photos show what happens when windshield repair shops don’t prime bare metal scratches when removing an old windshield; it leaves the pinchweld exposed to rust and rot formation. Click on the photos below for more detail: You should always choose a windshield replacement company that can do the job correctly, not the quickest! The Problem With Cheap Windshields

This has happened to all of us – we try to save money by choosing the least expensive alternative, and end up regretting it later, when it turns out to be very poor quality. This customer found that out when choosing a new windshield replacement. Choosing the lowest-priced company to do the job resulted in a poorly-fitted replacement windshield, resulting in rust, rot, and leaks – click on the pictures below for more detail: To save time and money, some glass companies will skip the important step of “priming” exposed spots to prevent any moisture or contaminates from harming the pinchweld (the area where the windshield or back glass sits). Titan Auto Glass always primes any spots during an installation to ensure your vehicle’s pinchweld stays damage…

A Repeat Customer Is A Happy Customer: 2000 Ford F350

We traveled up to Rowley, MA to do this windshield replacement on a 2000 Ford F350. This is a repeat commercial account that was so impressed with the first job that we had done for them that they called again for this one. The vehicle was leaking terribly to the point that they had to have the electrical system replaced. When we got there, it was obvious that this was a improper install; the windshield moulding was not fitting flush to the body, and there was rust and rot everywhere. Definitely a challenge, but we got it fixed, and leak free. Click on the photos below for more detail: If you need your windshield or other auto glass replaced, you can be sure that with…

Attention To Detail: 2009 Infiniti G37

Attention To Detail: 2009 Infiniti G37

We went to Wilmington, MA to replace the windshield on this 2009 Infiniti G37. The customer had this windshield replaced once before by a large glass shop and was unhappy with the results. The mouldings were lifting up due to incorrect installation and causing rattling. When it came time to have it replaced again, his insurance company recommended Titan Auto Glass. When we came to replace the windshield, it was obvious right off the bat that it was a very poor installation. When we removed the old windshield, there was already rust forming where the original technician didn’t prime where he had scratched the pinchweld. We cleaned up his pinchweld of any rust and rot (with no extra charge to the customer of course!) After…

Save The Day: 2002 BMW 330 4-door sedan

We recently performed this windshield replacement on a 2002 BMW 330 4-door sedan with rain sensor. We brought our van up, inspected it, and deemed we could definitely fix it! Because this customer did not have insurance coverage,  we could offer him a very competitive price, while still providing a lifetime warranty on air leaks, water leaks, stress cracks, molding issues or workmanship for as long as he owns the vehicle. We went up to Kensington Auto Works in Kensington, NH to do this windshield replacement on a 2005 Toyota RAV4. As you can see from the pictures below, this vehicle got our free rust and rot repair. The customer had leaks in the windshield that were pooling up in the A pillar trim. If the leaks had gotten worse they could have had electrical problems. At Titan Auto Glass, we use a step by step process to deal with rust and rot in a vehicle’s pinchweld. First, we clean the pinchweld by removing the rust and rot down to bare metal. Second, we clean the bare metal of contaminates. Once that is completed, we move on to the third step, which is applying a specialized primer…
