Better Rot Repair: What Goes Wrong and How You Can Take Control

Living in New England exposes your car to extreme weather conditions, which can lead to rust and rot. What you probably did not know, however, is that improper window repair could lead to premature decay by exposing unprotected steel. When damaged glass is removed during windshield replacement, bare metal can be exposed in the pinchweld. The pinchweld is the area in the car window where the windshield or back glass sits. In order to ensure quality auto glass repair, it is important to prime these exposed spots during an installation to prevent any moisture or contaminants from damaging the pinchweld. Unfortunately, many auto glass repair companies skip this crucial step in order to save time and money. Here at Titan Auto Glass, we make sure…

When Your Windshield Absolutely, Positively Has To Be Replaced Right

Here’s one of the more unusual replacement jobs we’ve had to do recently: This 2013 Morgan Olson FedEx delivery van was located in North Billerica. This windshield replacement was a little more difficult than usual. According to the VIN#, this is registered as a Ford vehicle. The problem is there is no Ford like this. Grumman Olson has 8 different models, each with a different windshield. Our solution? We had the glass custom made! We hope your package got there on time! If you need your windshield or other auto glass replaced, you can be sure that with Titan you’re getting the absolute best quality work. Titan Auto Glass is located in Woburn MA and we serve all of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Our van…

Six Reasons Why We Love Working with Auto Body Shops and Dealerships

Like most independent auto glass replacement companies, we love working with auto body shops and dealerships. Why, you ask? Lots of reasons! 1.) You understand the finer points of windshield replacement and appreciate a job well done. 2.) We know right where you will be. (You stay in one place and so does the target vehicle.) 3.) You usually have those nice, warm and snug buildings where we can complete our work out of the wind, rain and snow! 4.) You appreciate that we purchase top quality materials – both the windshields and the urethane — and understand why our services might cost a little more than the big auto glass company that uses second quality materials 5.) You have lots of cars to work on…

Helping the Helpers

Helping the Helpers

With all of the crazy winter weather we’ve been having in the Northeast (100+ inches of snow in a month!), auto repair shops and tow services have been having a very busy month. And sometimes, even they need a little help as well. Here’s a job we just did yesterday for Barrett Transportation of Newburyport. Their flatbed truck had a cracked windshield that needed replacement, so that they could get back on the road to help their customers. As you can see, despite the cold temperatures and falling snowflakes, we were able to do the job quickly and properly, because the urethane we use uses humidity to cure, doesn’t require heating and can be used in temperatures as low as 0 degrees, with a 1…

How NOT to repair a cracked windshield

How NOT to repair a cracked windshield

Perhaps you may have seen this video making the rounds of your friends’ social media feeds – How to repair a cracked windshield. So what’s the story behind the video? The solvents in the alcohol and bug spray dissolve the coating on the windshield, allowing the salt to penetrate the crack and hide it. Contrary to what the video title states, this treatment does not repair the windshield; it only hides the problem. Any windshield with a crack this large needs to be immediately replaced, as your windshield is a vital part of your car’s safety features. While you might be tempted to do a quick DIY fix for windshield cracks, this sort of problem is best left to professionals, who will fix it right…

When the Lowest Price Isn’t the Best Price

When it comes time to replace your windshield, you may be tempted to go with the company that quotes you the lowest price. However, some companies will cut corners to save on cost. They do things like use lower-quality glass and urethane, which can cause more problems than they solve. This photo is of a BMW M5 windshield replacement we performed at Sublime Restorations in South Hampton, NH. The customer was having some issues with the windshield leaking. The previous glass company had pulled and installed the windshield multiple times, and still couldn’t get it right. Sublime ordered the OEM windshield from Germany, and trusted us to get it done right the first time. The windshield in the M5 is known as a “Rubber Set”…

Finished! BMW M3 Custom Roof & Windshield Replacement

Recently, we posted a blog about Sublime Auto Restoration’s BMW M3 carbon fiber roof replacement, where they were going to cut off the roof of a BMW, manufacture an in-house custom carbon fiber roof, and replace it onto the BMW’s frame. Titan went in before they began working on the roof and removed the windshield and back-glass. Sublime Auto Restorations has finished installing the new lighter carbon fiber roof and Titan Auto Glass went back in to re-install the windshield and back-glass. The car is looking amazing. From this point the car will be polished to an even higher mirror-like sheen, and then the entire car will be detailed. Sublime Auto Restorations takes their work seriously, and that’s why when they need auto glass replacements,…

Lexan Windshield Removal for Racing BMW M3 in Newton NH

Lexan Windshield Removal for Racing BMW M3 in Newton NH

Titan Auto Glass’s clientele really spans the full spectrum. One day we’re replacing a windshield on a Subaru, the next day we’re taking out a windshield on a racing BMW M3. When it comes to specialized or custom car shops, Titan is always the preferred choice. This time, we were asked by our friends at RatchetHead Racing in Newton, NH to remove a lexan (high-grade performance plastic) windshield from another racing BMW M3 so that metal straps spanning the height of the windshield could be fixed. These straps are meant to restrict the lexan windshield from flexing too much while driving. Click the photos below for more detail: If you need your windshield or other auto glass replaced, you can be sure that with Titan…
